It’s time to earn the Games and Athletics badge! When I was a kid, I was obsessed with the finish line tape at track and field races. I loved the idea of breaking through it. So today, we’re making a finish line for our own camp races. It’s one of those little touches that, well at least for me, makes an event even more memorable and fun.

You’ll need:
2 large wooden stakes—look for them in the garden section at the hardware store
hammer or rubber mallet
stapler
crepe paper streamers
paint (optional—I painted these stakes because I thought they’d be prettier in pictures and make them even easier for the kids to spot, but it’s totally up to you how much effort you want to put in).

Step 1
Hammer the stakes into the ground.

Step 2
Wind around crepe paper streamers.

Step 3
Staple streamer to stake. You only need one staple.

That’s it! Now you’re ready for your race. What’s first? Dash, three legged race, wheelbarrow race or potato sack? Have fun!
