The paint job took 1,350 liters / 300 gallons of paint
Tale
Jagna is a young woman in a late 19th century Polish village, a hotbed of gossip and constant bickering, rich and poor bound together by colorful traditions and deep-rooted patriarchy. All scenes were captured on camera and then painted by more than 100 artists. The film consists of 40,000 images and uses 6 images per 1 second frame.
Let me start by saying that the views are absolutely stunning
I’m still shocked that the film was made in oil paint and it fills me with pride knowing that it’s a Polish film. The breathtaking views of the Polish countryside really filled my heart with joy and nostalgia. The lighting, colors and overall positioning of each scene was very well done and helped the visuals of the film.
Beautiful and ugly
With dynamic, imaginative music, it was very enjoyable to watch. It was such a raw film that showcased Polish culture in such a raw way. Ordinary life with dancing, music, lingering judgement, jealousy and hatred.
Why didn’t I give it 10/10?
I personally haven’t read the original book, so I can’t judge this movie in relation to the movie, but I’m sure it’s a really good adaptation and will definitely make me read the book. When you watch the movie, you think who is the real person, but you finally realize that it is not. one All the characters have different flaws and it’s so beautiful and real here.
To the Oscars
As much as I enjoyed it, I don’t think I fully connected with its story on a personal level, and sometimes I just couldn’t wrap my head around the plot. However, I am confident about the progress of this film.
