The film’s subtitle “Folie a Deux” means “Madness of Two” in French
Tale
Struggling with his dual identity, failed comedian Arthur Fleck meets the love of his life, Harley Quinn, while incarcerated in Arkham State Hospital. Lady Gaga, Brendan Gleeson, and writer-director Todd Phillips share what scared them the most when approaching the musical sequel. Plus, Gaga opens up about how she got into and stayed in her dark persona. This initially sparked speculation about Harley Quinn’s appearance in the film, which was confirmed soon after.
It is also known as Lasègue-Falret syndrome
The name Folie a Deux comes from 19th-century French psychiatrists Charles Lasègue and Jules Falret. The term was coined to refer to two or more people who share the same madness or delusion. The jury president talks about the “people of New York” instead of Gotham City. This is because New York State is the plaintiff in a criminal trial and this version of Gotham City is evidently located in New York State (most versions place Gotham in New Jersey).

The film opens with a Looney Tunes title sequence, with the Warner Bros logo surrounded by rings and the Joker’s face. We happily move forward Written by Eddie Cantor, Murray Mencher and Charles Tobias. Joker: Folie à Deux, a disappointing sequel, Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga offer a good performance, bringing to life two tormented and complex characters.
However, it is the story that is full of holes
If the first film convinced us with its psychological depth and powerful social criticism, this second chapter seems to struggle to find its own identity. The plot, at times fragmented and predictable, fails to compare with its predecessor. The characters, while interesting, take a backseat to an action that gets lost in useless digressions. In conclusion, Joker: Folie à Deux is a film that leaves a bad taste in the mouth, often even boring.
Despite the technical merits and excellent performances, the story is weak
