cheap and easy super soaker for kids

We have arrived at the final Endless Summer Project and we are going out with a splash! Today, we’re celebrating with old school super soakers.

These couldn’t be simpler. And that’s what makes them incredibly awesome. The other thing that makes them special (for me anyway) is that this is something Dave’s mom did with him when he was a kid. So, again for me, we’re coming full circle in a way. The goal of this series was to spend quality time with your kids and make summer memories—the type of memories you hope your kids never forget. And an epic battle with these squirt bottles can be just the thing that stays with a kid long after he or she grows up.

Now for all you who are sadly already back to the school grind, how memorable would it be to surprise the kids after school or on the weekend with this? They’d never forget it.

Now let’s get to it!

You’ll need:
an empty liquid dish soap bottle

Step 1
Rinse out the bottle well. Get all the soap out. Peel off labels if you’d like. They tend to get all mushy and yuck after they get wet a bit. And they will get wet.

Step 2
Fill the bottle with water.

Step 3
Screw on cap.

Step 4
Squirt!

That’s it. So easy it’s brilliant.

Oh and just a note. I tried to blogger up the squirt bottles by painting them. The concept was to paint a big PUSH HERE button on them. The paint came off in, oh I don’t know 5 seconds! and became a gross mess. So skip it. I suppose if you are really, truly itchin’ to blogger these up, maybe sharpies or some type of paint that expressly used for plastic?

Whatever you do, just make sure you have fun!
